of that there is no doubt that we are the greatest disappointment

Naxen is a German trio playing classic "Norwegian" style BM with doom passages, which in my opinion adds a twist to the oh-so-stomped-chosen-path of the so-called 2nd wave black metal horde. It's almost too slow at times for me, but I can really appreciate the technical prowess from these relatively new guys. The second part, I agree, is where they really stand out! Very late to the party, but for several years I've found melodic black metal all too similar and all albums sounding like Dissection, etc... HOWEVER, not only I am back into it but UADA is still a layer of complexity above the main baseline and this is an old album worth having, that's a basic milestone in UADA's discography and I felt it needed to be part of my BC collection. sachavonkarl74

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.
