FÒRN "the departure of consciousness" LP
vendetta records # 92
released December 22, 2014
"FÒRN formed in the winter of 2012 in boston, ma, Fórn draws inspiration from its predecessors; Grief, Burning Witch and Asunder, while remaining true to natural progression. Blown low end, and gritty leads make Fórn one of the leading sludge bands currently in Boston.
deep, suffocating doom. That seductive melody becomes a crushingly heavy dirge, though no less seductive — this misery is mesmerizing. And the vocals, they sound like sulphuric acid eating through steel, or like some shrieking poltergeist that has become your companion for this slow fall into the void.

Is it sludge-doom, or doom-sludge? Either way, it deserves my favourite epithet, i.e. "awesome". With the harsh vocals and heavy riffing, it reminds me a bit of Ramesses. I could have picked almost any track as favourite. There are no weak moments. The world needs more of this. reuben_sammitch
